Lauren Bolshakov

Lauren is a mixed media painter living and working in Charlotte, NC with her husband Andrei and studio pup, Mishka.

Her process is focused on the layering of paint and linework, each layer responding intuitively to the last, and with each other, creating expressive, movement driven works. She draws inspiration from nature, movement, and the fleeting beauty of florals. Lauren is always mark making - obscuring and then refinding, pushing and pulling to create tension into and across the piece.

When not in the studio, she is probably running, reading, or traveling. Lauren currently serves on the boards of The Foundation for Tomorrow and The McColl Center and is also involved with The Children’s Home Society of Charlotte, the Mint Museum Auxiliary and Arts for Life.
